And "what is Creative Thursday?" you ask. A question I hear often. Pretty simple answer really – and one that only took me fifteen years to trust.

I am happiest when I am being creative.

While working a 9 to 5 job, as an interior designer in Boulder Colorado and still hardly getting any creative time in, I decided that at least one day a week, Thursdays, had to be set aside for Fun and Creativity! And this is how CREATIVE THURSDAY was born. Just a short time later, while chatting with a friend driving from Boulder to Denver {in that beautiful little stretch of road just before you head over the hill into the valley} – I announced that Creative Thursday would be the name of my business that I would have ‘some day’. I knew that I would be endlessly inspired creatively and would never want to be boxed in - and ‘Creative Thursday’ would be the perfect umbrella to house all of my artistic ambitions, forever and always.

For those of you reading this about page now in 2012 – ‘some day’ happened. In 2004 I started {my second} business.

Trial and error, successes and failures, moments of pure joy and many tears, and most importantly a willingness to just keep going {through it all} - brought me here to create and share the art {the fabric and soon a book!} that you now know as Creative Thursday. Those characters in my paintings, the ones holding hands and wearing hats, saw me through the journey and continue to cheer me on as I hope they do for everyone who sees them – reminding you of all that you already are while offering constant support and encouragement for you to follow your dreams too.

Marisa Anne lives and works fulltime as an artist from her home studio in Los Angeles California with Sean and Garbo {her creative muse}. Marisa's work can be seen online; here at her website, her Etsy shop and on the Creative Thursday blog, also home to her podcast, now entering it’s sixth year. She tweets and instagrams but refuses to facebook. In 2011 her first fabric line launched through Andover Fabrics. Her second and third collections will be available this May 2012. And! In November 2012 Marisa’s first book ‘Creative Thursday – Every Day Inspiration to Grow Your Creative Practice’ will be published and available through F&W Media under the Northlight title. Marisa is also speaking and teaching from time to time in person and online via her e-course, "In the Fish Bowl. Life as an Artist Online" that she launched in 2009. Marisa’s bit of advice {if your asking}: you know that little voice of inspiration, the one that gets excited when you decide to go a certain direction…follow it.
